Size up when
You are between sizes. A 39 inch chest takes L (40), not M (38). You wear a base layer or vest. Add a size for the layer. You play basketball. The loose, long look is normal. You bowl fast. The bowling arm needs room across the back.
Do not size up when
You play kabaddi. Loose fabric gives defenders something to grab. You want a fitted football look. Stay at your size. You are worried about shrinking. Sublimated polyester does not shrink, so the jersey stays the size you ordered.

None: every size from XS to 4XL costs the same, so choose the one that fits.
