Sports shorts are sized by hips, the same numbers as jersey chests: M 38, L 40, XL 42 inches. What changes by sport is length: volleyball shorts are shortest (14.5 in at M), football in the middle (18 in) and basketball longest (21 in).
The waistband is elastic, so the hips decide whether shorts fit. Measure around the widest part of the hips with your feet together, then pick the size with that number or the next one up.

Kabaddi shorts
Kabaddi shorts follow the football shorts chart.
Jersey and shorts in different sizes
Within one set, the jersey and shorts can be different sizes at no extra cost. That is common: broad-shouldered players often need a bigger jersey than shorts, and the opposite is true for many women and some kabaddi players.
Charts: football, volleyball, basketball.
