Ask every player to measure their chest under the arms, match it to the chart (S 36, M 38, L 40, XL 42 inches) and write name, number and size in one list. Between two sizes, take the bigger one. Most sizing mistakes come from guessing, not measuring.
A team order goes wrong in a very ordinary way. The captain sends a message asking everyone for their size, half the squad answers with the size they wore in a gym T-shirt, two people never reply, and the kit arrives with three jerseys that do not fit. None of that is a printing problem, and all of it is avoidable.
Step 1: measure, do not guess
Each player wraps a soft tape around the chest, under the arms, breathing normally. That one number picks the jersey size. No tape at home? Lay a jersey that fits well on a table, measure straight across from armpit to armpit, and double it.
Step 2: match the number to the chart

Pick the size whose chest number is equal to or just above the measurement. A 37 inch chest is M (38). A 41 inch chest is XL (42).

Jersey and shorts can be different sizes in the same set. Players with bigger hips than chest should order shorts by the hips chart, for example the football shorts chart.
Common mistakes
Copying an old size. Brands cut differently, so a size from another brand is only a rough guide. Sizing down to look fit. A tight jersey looks fine standing still and restricts you the moment you bowl or reach. Forgetting juniors and coaches. Kids sizes go by age (kids chart) and can be in the same order and design.
Step 4: send it before printing
